Peru native and Maconaquah High School graduate Bridget Bobel will soon be participating in the Miss USA Pageant, as she was crowned Miss Indiana USA in Merrillville Sunday.
The five-foot-five-inch, blue-eyed blonde is 25 years old and the daughter of David and Mina Bobel, Peru. She currently resides in Indianapolis and works as the assistant manager for mall marketing at Castleton Square Mall.
Last year Bobel was crowned first runner up in the state pageant and luckily decided to give it one more try. She was also Miss Miami County and Miss City of Firsts.
Bobel will continue to work as she trains for the Miss USA pageant, to be held in April 2006 and broadcast live on NBC. She didn't win a cash prize for the state competition, but says state sponsors will provide her wardrobe for the upcoming pageant.
The beauty queen said she enjoys traveling, reading, playing the piano and going to the theater. Bobel is also a literacy advocate, serving as an avid volunteer for Indy Reads, an Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library program, as an adult literacy tutor.
As a child she performed in the Peru Amateur Circus for 13 years, where she participated in trapeze and aerial acts. Her career ambition is to receive a Masters of Business Administration and to have a successful career in marketing.
